Small-boat canal tours

Small-Group Canal Cruise Amsterdam

The best way to see Amsterdam is from a small boat with a local captain who knows every bridge, story, and hidden corner — not from a packed sightseeing barge.

Max 12 guests — always

Every Classic Canal Cruise caps at twelve people. You can hear the guide, ask questions, and move around the boat without fighting for a view.

Small boat, big stories

Our electric open boat slips into canals larger vessels cannot reach. You get closer to the architecture and quieter neighbourhoods most tourists miss.

Local captain, five languages

Captain Jo speaks English, Dutch, Spanish, French, and Portuguese. Tours blend languages naturally so everyone on board feels included.

Book direct from €30

75 minutes through the UNESCO canal ring. Thu–Sun at 13:00, 14:30, 16:00, and 17:30. Private whole-boat charters from €290.

Silent electric engine

No diesel fumes, no engine roar — just the sound of the city and your guide's stories. Better for you and for Amsterdam.

Free Amsterdam Facts app

Every guest gets access to our Discover app with historic maps, stories, and a photo challenge — before and after your cruise.

Small-group canal tour FAQ

How is this different from a large canal cruise?+

Large boats carry dozens or hundreds of passengers with a recorded commentary. We take max 12 guests with a live captain who answers your questions and adapts the tour to your group.

Is this a good small-boat tour for couples or families?+

Yes. Couples love the intimate atmosphere; families appreciate that children can ask questions and see clearly from every seat. Babies and kids of all ages are welcome.

Where do small-group canal tours depart?+

All departures are from Amstel 26, next to Amstel station — a short walk or metro ride from the city centre.

Do I need to book a small-group canal cruise in advance?+

We recommend booking at least 24–48 hours ahead, especially in peak season. Only 12 seats per departure.
